Source: uWorkin

JOB DESCRIPTION

The City of Logan's ambition is to become an innovative dynamic city of the future.

Recognised nationally as a 'cultural powerhouse'. A city of creativity, collaboration, and leadership. An exemplar of sustainability and liveability. A city renowned for excellence in design, technology, entrepreneurship and community vibrancy.

Our residents come from all walks of life and so do we. We hire great people from a wide variety of backgrounds, not just because it's the right thing to do, but because it makes our organisation stronger.

The Perks

  • 9-day fortnight with a flexible and supportive environment
  • $89K to $103k + super
  • Salary Packaging options
  • On-site coffee shop
  • Free on-site parking

The Opportunity

The Logan City Council River and Catchment Engineering team are currently a thriving bunch of five, responsible for planning the City's flooding and stormwater management. This includes flood studies and floodplain management planning, stormwater rehabilitation and upgrades, water quality asset delivery and management, long term infrastructure planning and disaster response.

We are a diverse and motivated team who work hard to deliver best-practice, quality outcomes. We like to get our boots on regularly and see our assets in action. Everyone in the team is supported but empowered to be responsible for their piece of the puzzle and largely self-directed in delivering what they need to.

This role provides a unique opportunity to experience all aspects of stormwater and flooding in one team. One minute you could be discussing the design of a pipe upgrade, the next planning for the delivery of a wetland and then advising the Local Disaster Coordination Centre on expected flood levels. With high rates of development in the City, this is a real opportunity to influence the stormwater assets that our City delivers and bring our vision of healthy waterways, thriving landscapes and liveable communities to life.

Take a look at the position description at the top of the page HERE or if you'd like some more information about the role, pop our hiring manager, Megan Gould (River and Catchment Engineering Program Leader) an email on megangould@logan.qld.gov.au

About you

Sure, we're looking for an experienced and competent Engineer, but you'll also have excellent interpersonal skills and be a confident communicator who's able to skilfully manage conflicting priorities. We operate best as collaborative and service-oriented professionals who play a part in creating a dynamic and rewarding community focussed environment.

However, more important than experience, we're looking for someone with the following characteristics:

  • You secretly get excited when it rains and quietly stand at the letterbox watching the water flow past wondering why that inlet pit isn't placed in the sag where it should be
  • You're a highly motivated high performer but you want to work for a great boss who places self-care and family on an equal footing with drainage
  • You'll throw two hands up in the air and say 'me' when someone asks who the go-to person is for stormwater planning

To express your interest in this role, please forward your Resume and a Cover Letter outlining your relevant skills and experience in support of your application by the closing date of 16 June 2021.
